During the winter and particularly during the Christmas festive season the band supports local churches in carol services but also engages in their own fund raising. The members would like to express their very grateful thanks to all members of the St Helens public who support them whilst playing in Morrisons, Baxters Lane and Tesco, St Helens for their generousity. Without the support of the community and the free band room facility provided by Viridor Ltd, Lancots Lane, the band would not be able to sponsor the younger band members, who are learning to play and are annually entered into the Associated Board Music Examinations. The band contests locally in the 3rd section and nationally in the 4th section. Senior Band and Training band rehearsals take place Wednesday, Friday and Saturday covering both groups. A phone call to the Secretary for any prospective new member, young or old, will ensure instruments, music and tuition are available along with a warm welcome.
