  • CASES (Community Alcohol Screening & Education Service
    CASES is a prevention project offering brief interventions and alcohol screening to enable members of the local community to moderate their alcohol consumption before reaching harmful levels of drinking. Work involves awareness raising and education sessions in community settings. Part of the work is screening for potential hazardous/harmful drinkers who can then be referred into alcohol treatment services across the borough.

    Local Community Centre managed by a voluntary steering group which provides a venue for hire for groups and organisations and individuals who provide activities/support for the community or for one off hire for e.g.children's parties.

We aim to create a safe, positive and inclusive environment for creativity. We hope to engage and encourage people, to improve self-esteem and personal development through creative activities.   • Health Trainers
    Health Trainers are there to offer support to you and your family, when you want health advice about anything from healthy eating to getting more active, to giving up smoking. Whatever you want support with they will be able to help, or be able to tell you about some of the other services that are out there. Health Trainers can support you to: * Lose Weight * Eat healthier * Get more active * Give up smoking * Reduce stress and manage your stress levels * Provide information on alcohol * Provide information on sexual health Health Trainers also offer a Health MOT and offer brief advice about how to go about making healthier lifestyle choices. Getting started and staying motivated in the long term can be hard and so the Health Trainers will be there to support you when, sometimes your motivation dips. You can see a Health Trainer individually if you are over the age of 16. If you are under 16 you can see a Health Trainer with a parent/guardian.

  • Pilkington Choir
    A group of almost 40 men & women who sing together for pleasure. Singers of all ages are welcome - at present our ages range from 22 to 80 years. We sing a wide variety of music ranging from Songs from the Shows to Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Carpenters, ABBA, modern composers. The emphasis is very much on fun to sing numbers. You don't have to read music but the ability to sing in tune is essential. We are led by two fine musicians - Anne O'Hara, Conductor and Dorothy Parr on piano. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday at The Pilkington Pensioners Activity Centre on Ruskin Drive. Concerts take place at a variety of venues throughout St Helens and within a 15 mile radius.     St Helens Local Involvement Network (LINk) is a new network which will give people the chance to share their views and experiences of local health and social care services. We aim to improve the planning and delivery of local services by listening to your ideas for change and taking action on what you tell us. Anyone can become a member of St Helens LINk including individuals and voluntary and community groups, but you do not have to become a member to have your say. Being involved can include sharing your views or concerns, completing a questionnaire, attending a meeting or become a member of the Task Group. St Helens LINk has been set up to give local people a greater say in health and social care issues and services.
